My life has been shaped by caregiving at its most enduring, and my career has been built around helping families navigate complex decisions with clarity, structure, and foresight.
Shelly Grimm is a lifelong caregiver, financial strategist, author, speaker, and the founder of The Perpetual Caregiver Collective — a movement devoted to bringing relief, resources, and renewal to caregivers and those living with chronic illness. Her journey into caregiving began long before her career. In 1956, Shelly’s mother became the first woman diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in the United States. Growing up in the shadow of chronic illness shaped every part of Shelly’s life — teaching her early about resilience, advocacy, emotional endurance, and the quiet sacrifices caregivers make every day. That journey continued into adulthood as Shelly became the lifelong advocate for her neurodivergent son, Ben, whose path has further deepened her understanding of caregiving, systems navigation, and the emotional realities families carry behind closed doors.Professionally, Shelly spent 27 years in financial services and insurance leadership, helping individuals and families prepare for uncertainty, protect what matters most, and navigate life’s most difficult transitions with clarity and confidence. Over time, she realized that many caregivers were not only emotionally overwhelmed but also financially and logistically unprepared for a crisis. That realization became the foundation for The Perpetual Caregiver Collective. Today, Shelly combines lived experience with strategic expertise to help caregivers and families move from chaos to clarity through advocacy, retreats, education, and legacy planning tools such as The Family Love Letter. Her work focuses on helping families prepare practically and compassionately for the realities of chronic illness, caregiving, aging, neurodiversity, and life disruption. Shelly is the author of Some Asses Just Need Wiping and the upcoming Some Just Need… series — books that blend humor, heartbreak, and honesty to illuminate the human side of caregiving. Her work and insights have been featured on Fox Business, Bloomberg, The Patricia Raskin Show, and Tom Hegna’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. She was also named by MSN as one of the Top 10 Leading Speakers to Follow in 2025. Through speaking, storytelling, advocacy, and community-building, Shelly is working to change how the world supports caregivers — because those who quietly hold families together deserve support, dignity, and care too.💜 Because every story deserves care.
